The path to a great career abroad is like a flowering plant. You have to look for the ideal spot to plant it. You need to provide it with a nurturing environment for it to prosper and bloom. And finally, you have to give it the right amount of sunlight and water for sustenance.
Focus on a Path
You can’t map a straight path if your plans are all over the place. Where do you want to go? Concentrate your efforts on one goal destination. You can’t say, “anywhere but here” because it does not give you an end-game to set your sights on. Once you have chosen your destination, it’s easy to solidify your course of action. It does not mean that you have to be rigid in following it, though. For example, if you’ve set your sights on getting a healthcare job in Dubai, but a job offer from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia came first, grab that opportunity! The job from Saudi could be a stepping stone to Dubai and vice versa. Healthcare professionals with prior overseas job experiences in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region are favoured when it comes to hiring.
Create Your Opportunities
In the Philippines, there is a character called Juan Tamad (Lazy John). He is content just laying down at the base of a guava tree waiting for fruits to fall down. Just like guavas, job opportunities are there, you just need to reach out and grab it. Empower yourself with the needed qualifications and the world will open up for you. Create your opportunities by actively searching for job openings using trusted job portals and job aggregators. Social Media sites dedicated to building a professional network like LinkedIn can be a useful tool in netting your ideal job.
Update your myTrueProfile page
Make sure that your myTrueProfile page is updated whenever you add anything to your CV. You can utilize this page as your online resumé, and best of all, you can share it with prospective employers. Don’t forget to toggle your Contact Settings to public so that prospective employers can contact you with relevant job openings.
Broadcast it to the World
I once read that for a resolution to be more effective, you have to announce it to your friends. This creates a kind of pressure for you to step up to the mark and walk the talk. Announce your plans on Social Media and toggle the “Let recruiters know you’re open” button on LinkedIn. One of your circle of friends might know of a job opportunity that’s perfect for you! Toggling the LinkedIn button will let recruiters know that you’re actively looking for a job. Most importantly, let them know that you have verified credentials by linking your TrueProofs to your profile.
